If you forgot to lather your sunscreen and stayed in the sun for a tad too long, you don't need to go to the drugstore and buy medications or skincare products. Don't worry; there are plenty of natural and home remedies for sunburn that'll soothe and heal your skin. Here are some of my favorite natural remedies for sunburn that works 

Aloe Vera And Honey Face Mask

Aloe vera is known as the 'burnt plant.' It's one of the best natural remedies for sunburn as it mitigates redness and pain by minimizing inflammation. That's not all; it even stimulates collagen production. On the other hand, honey is potent with antiseptic and antibacterial properties and is a natural humectant. Here's how I use aloe vera and honey to treat sunburn:

Things You’ll Need

·       Aloe vera (1 tablespoon)

·       Honey (1 tablespoon)

·       A bowl or container

Step By Step Process

·       Firstly, mix both the ingredients thoroughly in a bowl or container. Here’s a secret; it's best to put the concoction in the refrigerator for a few hours before using it gives a cool sensation that's heavenly during summer.

·       Whenever you want to use this DIY mask, clean your face first and apply a generous amount of the mask to the affected area. Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes, and then rinse off.

I use this home remedy for sunburn whenever I get mild or moderate sunburn. In 2-3 days, you should see great results.

Yogurt Face Mask

Yogurt not only tastes good but is also one of the best home remedies for sunburn. Yogurt contains protein that can help soothe and protect the skin. That's not all; being a milk product, it's also rich in lactic acid, which exfoliates your skin's top layers and can reduce the appearance of blisters. Yogurt is simply one of the best natural sunburn remedies.

Things You’ll Need:

·       Yogurt (Greek yogurt is highly recommended, but any plain yogurt will suffice)

Step By Step Process

·       Firstly, clean your face thoroughly and pat dry. Apply a generous amount of chilled yogurt over the affected area like a face mask.

·       Leave the mask on for about 20-30 minutes but make sure that it doesn't dry out completely. If it starts to dry, apply another layer of yogurt over the first one. You can repeat this process 3-4 times throughout the day.

Greek yogurt is highly recommended as its high in probiotics and possesses a higher concentration of lactic acid. You can use any kind of yogurt but ensure that it's not flavored; otherwise, you'll end up with sticky skin. For added benefits, you can even add some honey and aloe vera for each tablespoon of yogurt in your DIY mask for sunburn.

An Oatmeal Bath

If you've got a severe or full-body sunburn, oatmeal is a godsend. Thanks to its inflammatory properties, oatmeal is one of the best natural remedies for sunburn. It can effectively treat inflammation, itching, and pain caused by sunburn. Here's how you can prepare an oatmeal bath for treating your sunburn:

Things You’ll Need:

·       Apple cider vinegar (1 cup)

·       Baking soda (1/2 cup)

·       Ground oats (1 cup)

·       Container

Step By Step Process:

·       Combine the baking soda and ground oats in a container or bowl. After that, draw your bath.

·       Next, add 1/4th of the mixture into your bath, along with 1 cup of apple cider vinegar. Soak and relax in the oat bath for about 15-20 minutes but not more than 30 minutes.

·       When you get out, apply a moisturizer on damp skin, or you can apply coconut oil or aloe vera.
